BUTTERMILK (TAKRA) BENEFITS:
Buttermilk(chaas/तक्र)is useful in
.Oedema( शोफ)
. Piles( अर्श)
. Sprue (ग्रहणी)
. Anurea (मूत्रग्रह)
. Obstinate abdominal diseases including ascitis (उदर रोग)
. Anorexia (अरुचि)
. Alleviate the complications of oleation therapy (स्नेहव्यापद)
. Anemia (पाण्डु)
. Affliction with artificial (गर विष) type of poison

Butter milk detoxifies body and cleanses the intestines, relieves constipation and helps to replenish intestinal flora. It has less fat compared to milk and is rich in calcium, potassium and vit B12

TAKRA PROPERTIES:
Taste: Astringent, sour, and sweet
Secondary taste: Astringent
Potency or energy: Hot
Post digestive effect: Sweet

Quality: Binding, light, dry
Actions: digestive, promotes intellect and nourishes the brain tissues, promotes immunity, pacifies vata, and gives satisfaction.

BUTTERMILK RECIPE:
Take 1cup yoghurt, 2cup water, 1/2teaspoon roasted cumin powder and 1/4teaspoon black pepper. Blend all the ingredients together for few seconds till the mixture becomes foggy. Pour it in a glass and decorate it with mint leaves. It’s advisable to drink buttermilk during lunch time.
The curd used to make buttermilk should not be sour and should be fresh made from fat free milk. The water added should be taken warm in winter and cold in Summer.  Buttermilk is not recommended after sunset.
