Hypothyroidism is a disease that results due to the inadequate production of thyroid hormone from thyroid gland. The major function thyroid gland is to control the rate of metabolism in body. Any structural or functional defect of thyroid gland impairs the output of hormones which lead to the hypometabolism duo to hypothyroidism. The main cause of hypothyroidism is the deficiency of Iodine. SYMPTOMS :

Most of the time symptoms of hypothyroidism remains undiagnosed or misdiagnosed as the symptoms related to hypothyroidism are nonspecific and they mimic many symptoms of other diseases. Some common symptoms related to hypothyroidism are:

. Weight gain

. Hair fall
. Lethargy

. Cramps
. Menstural irregularity

. Vertigo
. Mood disturbances

. Constipation
. Slowness of memory

. Weakness

TREATMENT AND MANAGEMENT
As symptoms of hypothyroidism are notorious so the symptomatic treatment is followed according to the suitability of the individual case.

HOME REMEDY:
Soaked 1 teaspoon of coriander seeds in 1 cup of water at night. In morning mesh it, boil it and sieve it and drink it at empty stomach. This coriander seed water helps in maintaining the normal function of thyroid gland.
For weight management add 1 teaspoon of honey in it and drink it at empty stomach.

DIET AND LIFE STYLE:
. Increase intake of green leafy vegetables and seasonal fruits.
. Take milk in adequate quantity .
. Use coconut oil for cooking.
. Avoid oily, spicy, sour and junk food
. Say no to preserved food and beverages.

YOGA AND PRANAYAM:
.Do regular exercises like jogging, swimming, morning or evening walks etc.
. Yogasanas like Sarvangasana, Surya Namaskar, Pavanmuktanasana, Matsyasana. Sihasana, etc. are beneficial.
. In Pranayam do UJJAYI pranayam as it act on the throat area and stimulates the functionality of thyroid gland.
